Ela me mostrou a neta. Gloria apresentou eles a mim. Elder Black e Elder Heaton comeceram a ensinar. Eles me explicaram, e eu disse quero me batizar.

Today, I'd like to share how I came to know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and possibly part of the story will have a sound "crazy" or unbelievable, but that’s the way I think heaven works. At the end of January 2002, I was going through some personal problems and was also a little confused with everything about the gospel. I was feeling lonely and my work was a little out of control. I had decided to resign as I had been spending my time between work, school and taking a course for the entrance exam. The weeks following my resignation, I had left home on a Saturday see what was new on my street. I noticed that I had changed everything I had been doing. I found walking down the street a lady by the name of Gloria. We were good friends and neighbors. She introduced me to her granddaughter, so I sat beside her on the side walk and we started talking about all sorts of things. At one point, she went inside her house and brought out a magazine on a church. She said it was about a mansion in the United States. She said it was in the state of Utah but I had never heard about that state. She said I could win one of those mansions and that I needed to know about some Americans boys. We talked and after a few minutes there appeared two boys. They spoke with a different accents, and I realized that they were Americans. Gloria introduced them to me, and they invited me to hear a message along with a friend I had met that week, Adonel. We sat on the floor Adonel’s house because he didn’t have any chairs. Elder Black and Elder Heaton began to teach. I could not really understand what they were saying. I remember that I withdrew somewhat from those lessons with Adonel. Later that day, Elder Heaton told me, "I know you will be baptized" and he asked, why won’t you let me baptize you? He continued by saying, “I’m going home next week.” At that moment I thought he was crazy, but he left. A few days passed and I was conflicted in my mind, then came the thought that only those missionaries would be able to help. So I grabbed my bike and set off to find them. I found them walking up a street and I approached them and then set a time to meet with Elder Black and Elde Tutlte. Elder Heaton was already gone. The last Monday of January, I heard the first message. That night I did a search on the Internet about the church. I found about a lot of things such as a sacred temple. I thought about it and a good feeling overcame me. I read the pamphlets the Elders gave me, but I did not pray. Interestingly enough something bothered me and it was the feeling of happiness and peace. But there were only two things about what they taught that didn’t make sense, the first was concerning the Book of Revelations in the Bible that clearly stated that nothing else could be added after that book, but the Book of Mormon was doing just that. The second thing that concerned me was that Brigham Young had so many wives. The Elders explained all of it to me, told me that I should be baptized. I continued to watch the Elders from afar and to me they seemed crazy, but remembered that I felt very happy with my decision to be baptized. That feeling helped me to know for sure that my decision was based not only on what they taught but the strong feeling of the Spirit which really gave me a testimony. I was baptized 01/27/2002 just 30 days after my birthday. I later served a full-time mission in Santa Maria, just a year after my baptism.
